Freight Operations Manager

Boon Lay, West Region  |  Full-Time  |  $5,500 – $6,500/month  |  Immediate Start

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Freight Operations Manager to lead our agency freight teams (import and export) and drive consolidation trade lane growth. You'll report directly to senior management and oversee a team of 4–6 operations staff.

What You'll Do

Operations & Compliance

• Lead end-to-end freight forwarding operations across import and export

• Plan vessel schedules, cargo consolidation strategies, and container loading arrangements

• Coordinate with warehouses, transporters, shipping lines, and service providers

• Resolve cargo discrepancies, shipment delays, and cargo release issues

• Ensure accuracy of Bills of Lading, permits, and all shipping documentation

• Maintain full compliance with customs regulations and international trade requirements

Consolidation & Trade Lane Development

• Develop and expand profitable consolidation trade lanes with Singapore as the export hub

• Build and manage partnerships with overseas consolidators, co-loaders, and agents

• Run scheduled consolidation programs with defined volume and service targets

• Drive trade lane expansion through market analysis and competitor benchmarking

• Develop a 12–24 month growth roadmap with clear revenue and volume milestones

Customer, Commercial & Vendor Management

• Manage key customer accounts and serve as the main escalation point for operational issues

• Handle freight rate enquiries and quotations for agents and direct customers

• Negotiate with carriers, co-loaders, and vendors on pricing and service terms

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new agents and partners to grow business reach

Team & Financial Oversight

• Lead, develop, and manage a team of 4–6 operations staff

• Oversee workload planning, performance management, and SOP adherence

• Manage billing processes — freight invoices, debit notes, and payment vouchers

• Coordinate with finance on cost tracking, margin control, and agent settlements

What We're Looking For

• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a related field

• 6–8 years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations

• Proven track record managing import/export operations and leading teams

• Strong knowledge of freight forwarding processes, documentation, and trade regulations

• Experience in consolidation operations or trade lane development is a strong advantage

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Excellent communicator — comfortable managing customers, overseas agents, and internal stakeholders

• Proactive, ownership-driven, and decisive under pressure

• Singaporean citizenship and immediate availability are advantageous
